sql server enterprise manager locks

We have some processes running on SQL Server Enterprise Manager on a XP Virtual Server. They usually run pretty well, however, lately they have been running real slow and sometimes hanging to where we have to kill them. I restarted the server but it doesn't make a difference.

I've been googling things like the Locks / Process ID stuff and I get long explainations about all the types of SQL Locks but none are answering my concerns about SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

Right now I have one job running and it's taking too long. Does the fact there's four spid's in the Locks \ Process ID folder matter and if so what do I need to do, and is there anything else I can do to trouble shoot?

Thanks for your help.
