Enable gzip compression when downloading a file using Node.JS

I need to download a file from a web page and save it to my server to serve other scripts. I need to use gzip to download the files as the sever I get the file from now requires it. How can I enable gzip when downloading the file and saving it to my server. Below is the code I currently have that does not use gzip compression.

var http = require('http');
const fs = require('fs');

var file = fs.createWriteStream("input.csv");
var request = http.get("URL", function(response) {
  response.pipe(file);
});

var file2 = fs.createWriteStream("input2.csv");
var request = http.get("URL", function(response) {
  response.pipe(file2);
});
