Where is epoll edge-triggered mode used in real world?

I'm having a hard time to wrap my head around epoll edge-triggered mode. I see people suggesting to use level-triggered (default, if EPOLLET is not used) in mailing lists and forums because edge-triggered is claimed to be hard/flawed/whatever (while in the other hand edge-triggered is claimed to be fastest in other places).

I am implementing epoll-based (yes, only epoll, I don't care about other platforms as this app will be running only on Linux.) fast TCP server reading client commands (simple packets with commands) and feeding them log output. But this has got harder than I thought at first place and I fail to find any examples either.

So back to my old question: where is epoll edge-triggered mode used in real world?
