Split data in python

Using a dataset of

I would like to remove each item i.e. "bottomQuarter" and leave only the number for each item while assigning it to a variable. Such as having bottomQuarter = 4.4 within python...

It currently says AttributeError: 'Response' object has no attribute 'split' while trying to use

cigarAvg = req.split(",", 4)
