How can I upgrade vim built in MacOs?

In MacOS Mojave is Vim 8.0 preinstalled. I need to upgrade to version 8.1 `

I've tried the commands

brew install vim --with-override-system-vim

brew cask install macvim --with-override-system-vim

But it didn't work. There was

invalid option: --with-override-system-vim"

Any ideas how I can do that?

In the terminal, update your brew (checks the latest version of everything without actually upgrading them to the latest version) and then upgrade your vim (installs the latest changes)

    brew update
    brew upgrade vim

If you haven't installed vim before then you will need to do a

    brew install vim

    before you upgrade vim
