Best java book out there?

I have a question for you all. I have a java book called head first java, second edition. I bought the book a long time ago. I wanted to learn java at an accelerated rate so I can make applications, mod, etc. The book is pretty old(2004), it's useful but it won't cover everything. I heard of another book, called "Java for the impatient". Which got good reviews.

Can anyone suggest the best java book I can get in terms of age and efficiency?
