Any way of compiling Mako externally?

I'm building a tiny Linux system (x86, uclibc). I've managed, after struggling quite much, to cross compile Python-2.7.18 for the system. After integrating it, I've found that Mako library is required to run certain software.

Is there any way of building Mako externally? I mean, without PIP and without involving the target? Just building it in the host, as a normal cross-compilation process? I've beenn googlein' for it and found nothing...

Thanks in advance.
