  I am just starting using NoSQL MarkLogic DB and trying to choose for me the best query language to learn and use in future. On server side MarkLogic provides the possibility to use JavaScript API or XQuery API.

• Heroku buttons styling issue

  I made an app locally and pushed it on Heroku. The app is working perfectly on Heroku, however on the Homepage I have 2 buttons ( login and register ). When I run my app locally my buttons have some whitespace in between and they are rounded ( I am using tailwind for this). But on Heroku both buttons are not rounded and there is no whitespace in between them. When I inspect the button on Heroku, I see: class:".... rounded-full", which is what I expected and should have made the button rounded. Anyone has any idea what could cause this and how I can solve this ?

  Before I just overwrote the "style.css" file and used .stop() & .show(). This worked fine. But it can get complicated the more css-files you have and after it is packed into a .jar file it doesn't work anymore.

  I hope anyone can help me. Because now I have really no Idea...
• Issue with Selectable text on a hidden layer of a PDF

  I have a product that has several layers that contain different textual information. The PDF uses layer visiblity to only show specific layers er at a time, but regardless of what layer you're looking at, you can select the text on the hidden layers. This causes all sorts of problems as the text layers overlap.

  Simple example:

  Imagine that you create a PDF file in Indesign or Illustrator.

  Create a layer, put some text on it. Duplicate the layer. Then in Acrobat, create 2 buttons that respectively change the layer visibility, so that only one of these layers is shown depending on which button you press.

  Now, when you open the PDF file and 'select all text', you'll notice that both Acrobat, and Edge will select the text on the visible layer AND the text on the hidden layer. You can do a CTRL+F find all, and find words that are on your hidden layers.

  Is there a way I can limit users to only be able to select the text of the visible layer of the PDF? I have a feeling it might involve JS or template pages, but I'm not sure.
• How to ensure that every path or group in an illustrator SVG has its own class name?

  I am trying to create the floor plans of an apartment building as a SVG using Illustrator. The end goal is to use it on a website with a table next to it, where each row has some details about the individual apartments and when hovering over the row, the respective apartment in the SVG graphic highlights with changing its fill to a specific color. (an example would be this: https://the-jay.ch/wohnungen when you scroll down to 'wohnungsangebot')

  I am fine with the coding part about the animation but one thing I struggle in illustrator, is to assign my own classes to the paths or groups of the floor plans I am designing. From my own research it is not possible in Illustrator to add my own classes.

  The issue I have is that all apartments will have the same styling in terms of fill and stroke. Because of that reason, they all get assigned the same class. This is an issue for the jquery part later, because I will need to select each apartment individually to create the hover animation.

  Of course I could add my own classes later on when I exported the SVG but that would also mean that I would have to re-add these classes every time when I need to make a change to the SVG graphic.

  So my question is: is there a way to determine that each group or path in illustrator gets their own individual classes?

  I know that by naming the layers, I can assign IDs but this doesn't help much because the styling is stored in the class that illustrator assigns and additionally, some of my 'apartments' are built out of multiple paths that would all get their own ID as an ID needs to be unique. But I need to target with my jquery the entire apartment not just one part of the apartment
• Is there D3 way to manage a symbol's insertion point?

  I have made an SVG in Adobe Illustrator, and it uses quite a lot of symbols (as illustrator calls them) which convert to use elements in an exported SVG.

  

  The ⚫ is the insertion point. The intersection of the lines is the desired insertion point

  During that export, the insertion point is moved from the illustrator location to the bottom left corner. (It also seems to rotate it 180°, but that's changed back again by adding a transform. Very confusing.)

  Is there a D3 way to move the insertion point back to where I'd like it to be? So far, I've got most of the way there*, but it's not quite working. My current approach is:

  1. Move each instance to the original insertion point
  2. Move the view box of the symbol definition to be centred on the new insertion point
  3. Move the internals of the symbol back into the right place

  This is a surprising amount of work, and it feels like the kind of thing that someone else has done before me. The reason I want to do the transform on the symbol is that it drastically simplifies all downstream work because the insertion point is the only geometry data I need to store from then on.

  Ideally, there'd be a way to export from Illustrator with the correct, untransformed, origin, but I'm not holding out much hope.

  I'm open to the idea of using something else (inkscape etc.) to draw the source file if it's a hard problem.

• How to make a custom pattern from selection in Photoshop?

  TL;DR - I want to use code to define a custom pattern from selection in Photoshop using scripting (Extendscript).

  This is done manually, in the UI, by using a marquee tool to make a selection, then going to Edit > Define Pattern..., entering the name, then clicking ok.

  I have recorded myself doing just that and have gotten an action script in Javascript from it, but when I run it, Extendscript tells me: "General Photoshop error occured. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop."

  I am not so skilled when it comes to using the ActionDescriptors and ActionReferences, so I would love some help in getting this to define a custom pattern.

  **EDIT:**The ActionScript code works when I manually make the selection, but when I use the above code to make the selection, it doesn't work. Why would there be a difference, I wonder?
• Why is "do"/"do script" not working in AppleScript for After Effects 2022

  I've been breaking my head for the past few hours trying to solve this. I've done a lot of research trying to find a clear answer, but no luck so far.

  I'm doing some automation tests for an Adobe Suite automated workflow. I'll be automating Photoshop, InDesign and After Effects files using AppleScript and ExtendScript.

  I wrote this test code for InDesign 2021 and it works just fine:

  I use the same principle to work with After Effects 2022 and the do script portion keeps throwing the Expected end of line, etc. but found “script”. (-2741) error.

  This is the working version of the script for AE:

  If I only type do the Script Editor colors it green (as a variable instead of a command). So, neither do script nor do JavaScript are working.

  DoScriptFile does run the JSX within AE, but the problem is that I need to pass the variables into the JSX file and DoScriptFile won't allow it.

  So, I'm looking for either a way to pass arguments/variables to the JSX via DoScriptFile or a solution for do script not working with AE.
• Can a method return an object and a value?

  I'm learning Adobes Premiere Pro API (ExtendScript). In the documentation, is says that the method for a Sequence Object called Sequence.createSubsequence() "Returns 0 if successful".

  However in the example code, they assign the method to a variable, does this not suggest the method actually returns an Object rather than an integer (in this case it's a Sequence object)?

  New to coding so trying to understanding if there's something fundamental I don't get here, or whether this is in fact an error.
